Joining the Choirs
There are three Just in Time Choirs
Whether you’re a seasoned chorister or a shower soloist, there’s a place for you in one of our three ensembles. At our weekly rehearsals, you’ll find a fun and
welcoming group who share a love of music and the willingness to learn. Together, we learn to be creative, leave our worries behind, share a connection, explore new songs. The choirs offer a safe, warm, encouraging, uplifting environment where singers of all experience levels are welcome. And we laugh – a lot.
Unplugged – Everyone Welcome
To join Unplugged, no audition or previous experience required – everyone is welcome!
The Unplugged group typically consists of around 65 singers. To join the Unplugged group, all you need is a desire to sing. Whether you are an experienced singer or even if you’ve never sung in a choir before, you will be welcome. Sheet music and practice recordings are provided to help you learn your part. Complete the registration form, (which will be available prior to the commencement of the term under Joining the Choir in the menu at top of page) and you will be contacted to inform you of the next step. We are limited to certain numbers, due mainly to rehearsal space and space on stage, so unfortunately we cannot take everyone who wishes to join the choir. We will have a waitlist if the numbers are too high, and we will keep applicants informed.
Rehearsals are held once a week from 7:15 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday. It is expected that additional practice will be undertaken using the scores and practice recordings provided online however. There is no need to purchase performance wear, the requirement is for all black clothing.
The Jems are an auditioned treble group of about 12-16 women, and Vocal Minority is an auditioned SATB mixed group of about 12-16 advanced singers. Every singer sings on a mic, so the challenge and commitment expectation bars are higher than in our “Everyone Welcome” choir.
Rehearsals are held once a week from 5:30 to 7:15 pm on Thursday for Jems and 7:15 to 9:00 pm for Vocal Minority. It is expected that additional practice will be undertaken using the scores and practice recordings provided online however. There is no need to purchase performance wear, the requirement is for all black with some bling for Jems and black and white for Vocal Minority.
All choirs generally rehearse for 12 weeks.
